MUST HAVE Spa Night Essentials + Routine

One of my favorite ways to incorporate self care into my life is through skincare. I’m a sucker for a good spa night and love finding new products. I’ve come up with a list of my skincare essentials that are bound to make your spa night flawless! Along with that, I have also included my routine, so feel free to follow along with me!

Before I get started, let me explain my skin. Since middle school I have struggled with my skin. I had to go on accutane in 7th grade because I had severe acne and scarring.  Now, as a rising junior in highschool, I no longer have severe acne. My skin is now dry- combination. I have black heads on my nose and slight scarring on my cheeks, luckily that is the extent to my skin issues.   Keep in mind my skin type while viewing my essentials and routine. Remember that everyone’s skin is different and we each have different skin concerns and issues!  So, what works for me might not work for you! A selfcare spa night should be a relaxing time that you take for yourself. Don’t feel guilty about taking this time! You deserve it!  My Essentials:

  • Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask
  • $48
  • Great for all skin types
  • Use when your skin is in need of moisture
  • I use it after a chemical exfoliant in order to bring moisture back into my skin
  • Lush Mask of Magnaminty
  • $14.95- $39.95
  • Minty smells
  • Great to use in the shower
  • Helps heal acne
  • Has physical exfoliants
  • Not overly stripping

The Routine

Now, let’s get into my actual routine!  My spa night routine includes all these skincare products along with a few other body and hair products.  While having a spa night, it is important to not neglect other aspects of yourself such as your hair and body. A spa night is also a good way to wind down and reflect on your day.

Setting the mood/vibe

The best way to begin a spa night is by setting the mood, so grab your phone and open Apple Music, Spotify, or any other music platform.  I like to listen to chill pop or relaxing music, but the choice is up to you! I like to listen to Relax Playlist or In My Room Playlist from Apple Music.

Before Shower Prep

Before I get into the shower I like to use a pre- shampoo mask. I got mine from Prose, a personalized hair care website.  To get your own customized mask take their quiz to determine your hair type and hair care needs.  Once I apply my mask, I like to get it out of my face with a hair clip. You could also put it in a bun, but that tends to not hold my hair up as well.  I leave my mask in for at least 15 minutes while in the shower and then rinse it out.  My result is always smooth and silky feeling hair. No matter what, I would suggest trying a hair mask! I use mine 1x every 2 weeks.  If I’m not planning on taking a shower then I will use my Kingdom Cares Facial Steamer in order to open my pores.  Since I am going into the shower, I’ll skip this step because the steam from a hot shower will be enough

The shower

Now that you have your favorite music playing, it’s time to get into the shower.  Since I have a hair mask in, I can’t wash my hair just yet.  My first step is to wash and exfoliate my body. I just use a normal bar of soap and then a Lavender Salt Scrub from Trader Joe’s. This exfoliant is so mostorizing so I find that I don’t need to use a lotion after getting out of the shower.  Next, I will shave my legs using a Billie razor and shaving cream. I don’t shave my legs often so that makes it part of my spa routine. If this doesn’t apply to you then feel free to leave it out. I will then wash my face using Krave Beauty Matcha Hemp Hydrating Cleanser. This is my all time favorite cleanser because it doesn’t dry out my skin.  Depending on the day I will either use the Lush Mask of Magnaminty mask in the shower or the AHA 30% + BHA 2% Peeling Solution out of the shower.  Now that it’s been 15 minutes, I’ll rinse out my hair mask and shampoo and condition my hair. To shampoo my hair I use a shampoo brush in order to exfoliate my scalp.

After the shower

After my shower, I will use the Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask in order to bring extra moisture back into my skin.  Once it has been on my face for the set amount of time I will rinse it off and continue with my skincare routine.  If you would like to know what my skincare routine is then leave a comment down below!  I will then go in with my Eco Lips Lip Scrub in order to exfoliate my lips.  Lastly I will add the Laneige Lip Sleeping Mask in order to mosturize my lips for the night. When I wake up, I will have silky smooth hair, glowing skin, and plump lips!  Self care is important and should be incorporated into your life.  When life gets stressful or seems overwhelming, it is helpful to have something to do that just makes you feel good.  As a highschooler, life can be complicated so I find that it is important to start selfcare early. Just because  you aren’t an adult doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t treat yourself! Make sure to check out my other posts!  If you have any questions feel free to reach out! Let’s build our community!
